John J. Foster, Sr., 66, of Clay City, died Nov. 16, 2004 at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon, IL.
Mr. Foster was born Oct. 30, 1938, in Austin, TX, the son of M. L. and Josephine Rimmer Foster. He married Carolyn Rudder July 7, 1974 in Johnsonville.
He was a cabinet maker and a janitorial worker and a Vietnam veteran.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist church in Flora, Clay City American Legion, Clay City VFW, and a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife; a son John Foster, Jr.,; four brothers, Lydon, Wayne, Stephen, and Hubbard Foster; and three sisters, Dora Wadel, Mary Tucker, and Bessie Tucker.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Funeral services were held at Frank and Bright Funeral Home with burial in Smith Cemetery near Sailor Springs.
Military honors were accorded.
