Lily Mae was born at Dear Lake in Chariton County to Carroll and Frances Ann (Kelley) Jackson. On October 21, 1894, she married William Dudley Digges. They lived on a farm in Triplett until 1912, during which time they had 10 children:

In 1912, the family sold their farm and moved to Poplar Bluff. William Dudley died in 1928. In 1942, Lily Mae married Chalon Adams. They lived in St. Louis until 1950, when they moved to Poplar Bluff. They remained in Poplar Bluff until their deaths less than one week apart in 1954.
