Birth:	Apr. 20, 1764
Death:	Mar. 30, 1834
Inventor, Publisher. In 1817 he established a print-shop in the Strand, London, England and organized a lithographic press, which produced copper lithographs. He later included the production of colors and thick carton paper for miniatures and landscape painters. He applied his press to the illustration of his "Repository of Arts, Literary and Fashion", published monthly with contributions from many eminent artists of the day. He introduced fashion to the popular literary annals of the day, commencing with "Forget-me-Nots" (1823) and went on to published many illustrated volumes of topography and travel. In 1801, he invented a method for making paper and cloth waterproof and built a factory to produce this, and he was one of the first to illuminate his own premises, using gas lighting. He also invented the Ackerman Steering Geometry, which was first used on horse drawn carriages. A form today is part of the steering of modern automobiles.
