Mrs. Bates died at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, in Mary Dickerson Hospital in Jasper. She was born in Madison County and lived here for 35 years.
Pallbearers were Pray Glover, Arthur Guy, Grover Couch, Bob Collier, J.C. Coleman and David McCoy.
Survivors include three sons, Alton and Donald Hogan, both of Kirbyville, and Leslie Hogan of Jasper; two daughters, Ruth Abbott of Call and Viola Guy of Kirbyville; three brothers, Albert Lee, Dan, and Clifford Charlton, all of Kirbyville; three sisters, Mattie Chernick of Prescott, Ariz., Myrtle King of Anaheim, California, and Thelma Neely of Beaumont; 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
