She played supporting roles in films to include "Reunion in France" (1942), "Dishonored Lady" (1947), "The Snake Pit" (1948), "The Case of the Shy Ballerina" (1954), "Forever Darling" (1956) and "The Day of the Locust" (1975). For television she is best known for her role as the millionaire's wife 'Lovey Howell' on the series, "Gilligan's Island" 1964 to 1967.
