OBITUARY Iron River Reporter undated July 1945 ""Mrs. Morgan Dies At Home Last Night"
Mrs. John Morgan, 71, a resident of Iron River for 33 years, died at her home in the Hilltop location at 12:15 this morning of an illness of a year.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon from the Johns Funeral home and St. Paul's Methodist church by the Rev. C.W. Cookingham, and burial will be in the Iron River cemetery [Resthaven].
Mrs. Morgan was born Feb. 28, 1874 in Pontloyttn, South Wales, and was married there to John Morgan, recently retired clerk of the Iron River board of education.
They came to America in 1909 and first settled in Ishpeming, later moving to Iron River where they have since lived.
Mrs. Morgan was an active member of the Methodist church and its ladies' organizations.
She leaves her husband, a daughter Mrs. Glenys Morgan Coke; a sister Mrs. William Morris, Negaunee; and three sisters and two brothers in South Wales.

Miss Jeanette Hunter won first prize at the Iron county fair this year on a group of oils which she exhibited, and at the upper peninsula state fair held last week, a landscape in oils netted her first prize again.
She is a novice at the work, having taken it up less than two years ago. She has taken only a few lessons, those from Mrs. John Morgan of Iron River.
