Roger was born in Anderson Co, TX to Joel Webster and Julia Isabel Camp Ashley. His father is buried in Guiceland Cemetery, and his mother is buried in Ferguson Cemetery. Roger was a retired supervisor for Exxon Corp. He was residing in Diboll in Angelina Co, TX when he died 3 April 1999 in Lufkin. He shares a stone with his wife, Veda Mildred Kiser Ashley. He was survived by his wife; two daughters, Alana Margott Ashley Brunson of Lufkin and Jeanie Rea Ashley Wagnone of Diboll; two brother, Clyde Ashley of Palestine and John Wesley Ashley of Mesquite; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His obituary appeared in the Palestine Herald-Press, Saturday, 3 April 1999.
