BANCROFT - John Henry Meiners, Jr., 77, of Bancroft, passed away Sunday, April 2, 1995, at the Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs, Idaho of a heart attack.

He was born August 25, 1917, in Lund, Idaho, the son of John Henry and Emma Josephine Voight Meiners Sr. He married Mary Anderson, June 30, 1937, at Pocatello. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple.

Mr. Meiners had lived most of his life in Lund, and had lived in Portland, Oregon for one year, Burley, Idaho for two years, and had spent the last winter in St. George, Utah. He graduated from North Gem High School. He had taken a vocational course in auto mechanics and welding and had worked as an apprentice.

He was a rancher and a farmer all his life, had worked for the County Weed Department for 10 years and was a school bus driver for 28 years.
He was a High Priest in the Bancroft First Ward. He had served on the High Council for many years, counselor in the ward bishoprics in both Lund and Bancroft wards, and numerous other church callings throughout his life. He had served on the 24th of July Celebration for a number of years, as a school trustee, and on the Lund Cemetery Board. He enjoyed woodworking and metal art sculpture. He was an avid fisherman and horseman. He loved motorcycle riding.

He is survived by his wife of Bancroft; one son and three daughters, and their spouses, William Hans and Teryn Meiners, Jean Ann and Dean Hunter, all of McCammon, Karen Jane and David Modersitzki, Bancroft, and Joselyn and Lyle Simmons of Lyman, Wyoming. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, John Henry Meiners III, and two brothers, Carl and August.

Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, April 6. Burial was in the Lund Cemetery. Services under the direction of Allen-Sims Funeral Home of Soda Springs,
