Fondly remembered for his dozens of appearances on NBC's "Late Night with David Letterman" and CBS's "The Late Show with David Letterman" shows from 1982 through 2002. He was a clerk at a drug rehabilitation facility when he appeared in a New York University student's film, leading to his "discovery" by the staff of David Letterman's NBC show. He later worked as a drug rehabilitation counselor until his growing celebrity made it difficult for him to work, leading to his retirement. He continued to make appearances on Letterman's programs and also appeared in four films, as well as several television ads and music videos.
