Abner Casey obtained an uncontested divorce on grounds of desertion from Margaret in Montgomery County, IL in November of 1875.
Margaret applied for a widow's pension based upon Lewis Hinton's service in the Black Hawk War in December 1893. (Application #5081). Although the pension was subsequently denied because of Margaret's marriage to Abner Casey, the pension record gives many details about Margaret, James Lockwood (her husband before Lewis Hinton), Lewis Hinton, and Lewis's first wife Tabitha Prater Hinton that any researcher investigating this line would find interesting.
On page 12 of the record Margaret gives her name as "Margaret A Lambert Hinton." All other records give Margaret's maiden name as "Hill".
