Iowa Governor. A native of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, he served as the Governor of his home state from 1877 to 1878. He also served as a Member of the Iowa State House of Representatives, and Lieutenant Governor of Iowa from 1876 to 1877. During the Civil War, he served in the Union Army. He died in 1903.
