Charnick was a Baptist preacher. Some of his churches were: Stone Creek Church, Beersheba Church in Twiggs Co., and Mount Moriah in Jones Co. He never received any pay for his services as a minister. Stone Creek was started by his father, Vincent Allentharp and Stone Creek Academy was the first know school in this section of Twiggs Co. Charnick was an ardent secessionist.
