Margaret Mary (Rogers) (Arvia) Breitzmann, of Montgomery, IL. Our beloved Marge passed away Monday, March 12, 2007 with a gentle smile, into our Father's loving care.
She began her life Monday, April 13, 81 years ago, the daughter of Patrick John Rogers and Margaret Catherine (Burke) Rogers. She grew up in Chicago having adventures every day: summers at the beach, cable rides to downtown, Christmas shopping at Marshall Fields and huge Sunday dinners. She lived through the depression never feeling deprived. Her loving mom and Aunt Daisy feeding the train car "bums" and fostering many children. These were days when funerals were at home, ice and coal were delivered to the house, dirt roads and no screens on the windows. A whole lifetime of joys and memories shared with her dear brothers, Pat, Bill and Mike.
Her life was about love, strength, understanding, honesty, compassion, mercy, hard work and good clean fun. She never said an unkind word about anyone. She only saw the good in people. She loved mysteries, reading books, playing cards and dominoes, and visiting with family and friends. She loved rainy days sitting safely inside on her comfy chair, looking out the picture window at the birch tree blowing in the wind, Henry (mini-schnauzer) sleeping on her lap, an ice cold cup of milk and the anticipation of a game of hand and foot to come.
Marge is survived by her children, Judy (Tony) LaPorte, Linda (Tom) Lawton, Tim Breitzmann, Terry (Kathy) Breitzmann and Bridget Breitzmann; ten grandchildren, Anthony (Karen) LaPorte, Katie (Matt) Bates, Rebecca (Matt) Sohm, Joseph (Ann) LaPorte, Sarah Lawton, Thomas Lawton, Erin Breitzmann, Emily Lawton and Andy, Maggie Breitzmann, George Breitzmann; two great-grandchildren, Aaron Sohm and James LaPorte; her loving brother, Bill (Alyce) Schwartz; dear sisters-in-law, Rose (Hank) Haneman and Eileen Rogers; many nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends old and new; over the years special and dear neighbors. All we are so blessed to know.
Those who have gone on before her were husband, Dominick Arvia; her husband, Emil J. Breitzmann; her parents; dear brothers, Patrick Rogers and Mike Semancik; dear sister-in-law, Florence Breitzmann; cousins, Joe (Shirley) Burke; and dear nephew, Jimmy Schwartz.
