| Birth: | Jan. 29, 1839 | | Death: | May 8, 1929 |  Colonel, U.S.A. Medal of Honor Recipient. Blodgett entered the service as a first lieutenant, 37th Illinois Infantry. About a year later, he & a lone orderly captured an armed picket of eight men near Newtonia, Missouri & marched them in as prisoners. Soon after that, he was promoted to captain in his regiment & was promoted again 2 months later & assigned as judge advocate of the Army of the Frontier. Finally, Blodgett was promoted to lieutenant colonel & colonel in the 48th Missouri Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his action at Newtonia.
