US Congressman. Elected to represent Iowa's 2nd District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1937 to 1943. He was defeated in 1942. He also served as a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from Iowa in 1940, and as an Alternate in 1944. He was the son of United States Congressman Bernhard Martin Jacobsen.
