RUCKER-HORTON FAMILY HEAD DIES // Elcana D. Horton, Aged 89, Expires Near Lintner. // WAS WIDELY KNOWN // Reside on Farm in Piatt County Many Years.
Elcana D. Horton oldest member of the Rucker-Horton family which holds its reunion at Fairview park every summer died at his home near Lintner at 1 o'clock Monday morning. Death was due largely to old age. He was nearly eighty nine years old at the time of his death.
TO STATE IN 1853 // Mr. Horton was born in Washington County, Tenn. On June 30, 1825. In 1849 he married Mary L. Rucker. Thirteen children were born to this union and eight still survive. Mr. Horton came to Illinois in 1853 and to Macon county in 1854. Later he settled on a farm near Lintner in Piatt county.
WIDELY KNOWN. // Mr. Horton was widely known in Piatt and Macon counties. He frequently visited in this city. He is survived by one brother, William H. Horton, aged seventy two, who lives with his daughter at Oakley.
NO FUNERAL PLANS // Arrangements for the funeral have not yet been made and nothing will be done until Mr. Horton's children in other places are heard from.
