Swedish Lutheran Archbishop of Uppsala. He served in this position from 1744 until his death, succeeding Erik Benzelius (the younger). After receiving his Master's Degree from Uppsala University at Uppsala, Sweden in 1703, he taught in Uppsala for a few years before travelling abroad. Upon his return, he became Professor of Theology at Lund University in Lund, Sweden (1718 to 1731) and then Bishop of Gothenburg (1731 to 1744) prior to being appointed Archbishop of Uppsala. He died at the age of 64 and was succeeded by Henric Benzelius. During his life, he authored several influential books on theology.
