Was a farmer when he enlisted at Harpers Ferry on April 21, 1861. His discription states he was five foot seven inches tall, light complexion, blue eyes and light hair. He was elected 1st Lieutenant of company G, 2nd Va. Inf. on April 20, 1862. He spend time in Stuart Hospital in the spring of 1865 with the compant of rheumatism. He's paroled at Winchester on April 19, 1865.
