Professional Golfer. At age thirteen, he worked as a caddy, latter attended Brigham Young University and won two major collegiate tournaments before joining the U.S. Army in 1967. After his military service, he joined the PGA Tour in 1971 and went on to win five events. His victories included the 1971 Greater Greensboro Open, 1973 Florida Citrus Open and the 1976 Pleasant Valley Classic. His best season was 1974, when he finished ninth after winning the Doral-Eastern Open Invitational and the Byron Nelson Golf Classic. After turning 50, he played in 157 Champions Tour events, winning the 1997 American Express Invitational in Florida. His last play was on the Champions Tour and European Tour in 2000 and he had been working as a teacher. For his service during the Vietnam War as a U.S. Army Officer, he was awarded two Bronze Stars, one with "V" for valor and an Air Medal. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
