Annie Maria Clarke of Yountville, matriarch of a well known Napa County family, died Saturday in a local nursing home after an extended illness. She was 86.
Mrs. Clarke was born in St. Helena and attended school in Monticello. She moved to Rutherford at age 15 and was married to the late Thomas A. Clarke in 1896. They farmed most of their lives in the Yountville area. She is survived by three sons, James E. Clarke of Healdsburg, Milton (Bud) Clarke of Yountville and Willis L. Clarke of Vallejo; a daughter, Hilda Fraser of Pope Valley; a sister Augusta Harris of St. Helena; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren."
