He served in the United States Army during World War I as a Corporal in Battery E, 15th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Division, AEF, and was killed in action on October 5, 1918.
He was awarded the Croix de Guerre by France for his bravery in battle.

He was the son of George E. Brindle.

His family erected a cenotaph for him in their plot in the Brockway Cemetery in Dover, Boone County, Indiana.

He lies today in Plot B, Row 2, Grave 68 of the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery and Memorial, Belleau, Lorraine Region, France.
