John was born to David Lamb and his second wife, Esther Smith, of Stonington, CT.
WOUND RECEIVED OFF COAST OF SPAIN: John Lamb (David, John) born in Stonington, 2 Jun 1740, was a sea captain. Died in Preston 4 Mar 1804 "in consequence of a wound received in a shipwreck on the coast of Spain". Gave service on sea for the Revolution, married Lucy Bulkely, one child, Henry F. went to Wilkes-Barre, PA. ... ("Lamb Families in CT Before 1800" Pg 58, by Frank B. Lamb)
(Capt) John Lamb born in Stonington, CT 2 Jun. 1740; died in Preston, CT 4 Mar 1804. Mr. Lamb was a sea captain and gave service at sea during the Revolution. He was of New London, 1774, Stonington, 1781, Norwich 1783 and 1792. He died in consequence of a wound received in a shipwreck on the coast of Spain, and was then a resident of Groton, CT.
