John A Carver received and injury at 4 years old that ultimately left him totally blind within two years. He attended the Utah State School for the Blind in Ogden to learn Braille. He completed Grammar school there and also learned to type. When he was fifteen years old her returned to his family farm near Preston and began High School at the Oneida Stake Academy. He was elected student body president in his senior year at the academy.
On July 25, 1917 he married LaVerne Olsen. They had seven children during their married life.
John studies law and in 1918 He passed the Idaho State Bar examination. John Carver entered into politics and was elected Prosecuting Attorney for Franklin County in 1923. In 1929 he was appointed Police Judge of Pocatello Idaho. In 1933 President Franklin D Roosevelt appointed him the United States Attorney for the District of Idaho.
