James S. Crews, 94, of Mt. Carmel, IL died January 27, 2005 at Wabash General Hospital in Mt. Carmel.

He was born May 25, 1910, in Moberly, MO, the son of Charles Alvis and Cally Shelton Crews. He married Amanda Fay Barnes May 15, 1937 in Browns.

He was a retired clergyman and youth supervisor for the State of Illinois, served in the U. S. Army from 1933 and 1934 at Ft. Sill, OK, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Carmel. He was also a columnist for the Mt. Carmel Daily Republican Register.

Survivors include a son, James C. Crews; and two grandsons.

Preceding him in death were his parents and three sons, Ronald, Robert, and Michael.

Funeral services were held at Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne with burial in Brown Cemetery.
