Gerry Wilford Cleverley, 82, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away August 27, 2017, at his home in Idaho Falls, surrounded by his family.

He was born November 9,1934 at Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Allen Cleverley and LaVina Harris Cleverley. He was the oldest child in a family of four. He attended schools in the Shelton and Ucon areas and was in the first graduating class of Bonneville High School in 1952.

He met his wife, Genevieve, during high school. They were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 21, 1953. After their marriage they lived in Idaho Falls for a short time, then moved to Osgood, where he worked for U & I Sugar Company for twenty-five years. After working for the sugar company he worked for the Osgood Canal Company and LDS Church until his retirement. After retirement, Gerry and Genevieve had the opportunity to travel around the country visiting with family members.

While living in Osgood, Gerry and Genevieve started their family. They have six children: Sheila, Brenda, Judy, Ben, Melissa, and LeeAnn. Many great memories were made in the little brick house on the corner.

Gerry enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing. He shared his love of hunting and fishing with his son, daughters, sons-in-laws, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. He also enjoyed wood working. Many of the grandchildren received toy boxes, toy china cupboards, rocking horses, and doll cradles from grandpa.

An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he served as a Sunday School Superintendent, counselor in the Elder's Quorum Presidency, Stake Welfare clerk, and ward clerk. He also served a mission with his wife at the Bishop's Storehouse in Idaho Falls.

One of the greatest joys of his life was his family. He just celebrated his 64th wedding anniversary with Genevieve. His family of six kids grew to include 23 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. He dearly loved them all!

Gerry was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and LaVina, his brother, Bobby, and sister, Susan. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve Farnsworth Cleverley of Idaho Falls; children, Sheila (Parley) Byington of Henderson, NV; Brenda (Harold) Beckstead of Idaho Falls, ID; Judy (Jim) Byington of Ririe, ID; Ben (Janine) Cleverley of Caldwell, ID; Melissa (Chris) Reed of Osgood, ID; and LeeAnn (Mark) Guisinger of Syracuse, UT; and a brother, Max (Susan) Cleverley of Shelby, MT.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with Brad Reed officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday and from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, both at Wood East Side. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
