Roland J.Dillon was born in Omaha,Nebraska on July 14, 1916 to parents,James Sidney Dillon(1879-1939) and Mary Elizabeth Fedde(1880-1969).He was the brother of Sidney Howard Dillon, John Dillon, Byron Jay Dillon, Christian James Dillon(1909-2004), Gladys Irene Dillon & Mina Margaret Dillon. He graduated from Benson High School in 1934 and married his high school sweetheart,Florence Elizabeth Nightingale(1916-1985) on March 21,1935,in Logan,Iowa.
Florence gave birth to daughter, Patricia Diane Dillon(Boulware)(1937-2006) on May 27, 1937 in a upstairs bedroom of the Nightigales's, Florence's parents, home in Omaha, Nebraska. They relocated to California
in approx 1940.Roland eventually became a welder and worked for the Department of the Navy during the beginning stages of World War II,a trade he continued with until his death. He would later, approx. 1945, receive his draft notice, however, the war ended before he was ever inducted.
They had a second daughter ,Pamela Leah Dillon(Davis)(1949-2002), on July 3, 1949. Roland and his wife, Florence, separated in late 1959 and he remained alone up until his death a few years later.

On April 18, 1961, at just 44 years old, Roland passed away in his home, once located at 5231 Columbia Avenue in Richmond, California. He had fallen asleep with a cigarette and caught his blankets on fire.

Roland was of relation to baseball hero, Casey Dillon Stengel and Trans-Continental Railroad executive and Union Pacific Railroad president, Sidney Dillon.

Note: I remember my mother, Patricia, Roland's eldest daughter, speaking very highly of Roland and though I was named after him, I never got the chance to meet him. I didn't come along until much later unfortunately. However, because of mother's spoken memories over my years growing up, I feel as though I knew my grandfather Roland. I'm proud to carry on his entire name, as I'm proud of my father's last name.

I don't remember you Grandpa, but I'm certain I would have loved you and I'm equally certain how very much my Momma loved you.
