Former Connecticut State Senator from the 13th District. Three-term Mayor of Meriden, Connecticut from 1953 to 1959. Chairman and chief executive officer of Suzio Construction Company. Appointed to the U.S. Commission to Draft the Safety Regulations for the Mine Safety Act of 1964. From 1967 to 1969 he served as a member of the Advisory committee to the U.S. Bureau of Mines. Served on the federal Small Business Advisory Council for the SBA in 1967. Vice-chairman of the board of trustees for the Connecticut School for Boys from 1961 to 1967. Chairman of the Meriden Development Commission from 1964 to 1966. Chairman of the Connecticut Commission on Youth Services in 1965. Member of a number of civic organizations. Elected to the of the Meriden Hall of Fame in 1987. Interstate road I-691 is named in his honor. Survived by his wife Josephine LaMontagne Altobello, four daughters and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
