James William (Bill) Clark was born on August 8, 1894 to Calloway and Ellen Clark in Centerville, Iowa. He passed away May 4, 1976 at the Bethel Nursing Home in Ainsworth, Nebr. At the age of eight,he moved with his family to West Plains, Mo. He lived there until he moved to Ainsworth, Nebr., when he was a young man. Subsequently, he enlisted in the Army in 1918 and was honorably discharged at the end of WWI.
He was united in marriage to Mary B. Williams on April 20, 1919 at the Highland Grove Church. To this union five children were born: Chester of Rockford, Ill.; Gwendoline Keim of Ainsworth; Vonna Strong of Winslow, Ariz.; Katherine Beilfuss, Rockford, Ill.; and William of Huntsville, Alabama. During the early years of their marriage they farmed in the Ainsworth area. In 1944, they moved Meadville where they operated the General Store and post office until their retirement. He was a resident of Bethel nursing home for the last one and one-half years of his life.
Services were held in Hoch Funeral Home Friday, May 7, 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Robert Wine officiating. Burial was in Ainsworth Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Rap provided the music. Pallbearers were Chet Nelson, Jim Vonheeder, Maynard Jones, Marvin Blake, Duane Keim and Kenneth Foster. Bill is survived by his wife, Mary; and his five children; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clyde of Superior, Wisc.; many nieces, nephews and friends.
