Ann Peterie Michael was born in Kentucky, the ninth child and fourth daughter of Alexander M. Peterie and Nancy Grasey Peterie. She married at 18 in Illinois [most likely in Adams County], to Daniel D. Michael, a young widower with no children. They lived near Richfield, Adams County, Illinois. They had five children one died in infancy. I believe all five children were born in Illinois, I'm still checking this. In the 1860 US Census they are living in Davis, Caldwell, Missouri. The children:"... Ellen, deceased was the wife of W. G. Owens; William Alexander, deceased, buried in Braymer; John N., the subject of this sketch; Daniel Albert, farmer, living in Lincoln Township, Caldwell County; and Andrew, deceased...." [from: History of Clinton and Caldwell Counties Page 665-666 Published 1923] In the 1880 US Census, she and Daniel are farming and have a hired hand living with them. On one side their son, John N. and on the next farm over was Joseph Gilbert Helsley, his wife Hattie [Harriet] Johnson Helsley with their 2 yr old daughter Lurie [Lura] who became my grandmother. Ann died in 1887. My ggrandparents migrated to California about this time. -- [Note: If you choose to use all or part of this information or photos please use the complete internet address (URL) copied from your browser including the memorial number in your documentation.
