Jonathan Tyng, Esquire - Colonel - was born December 15, 1642, son of Colonel Edward Tyng, of Boston (died in Dunstable, 1681). He married Sarah, daughter of Hezekiah Usher; died 1713. Judith, his widow, died 1736. His father's family was one of the most prominent families in Massachusetts. He was Colonel of the Second Regiment of foot and a justice of the court, was one of Sir Edmund Andros's Council, 1687, a magistrate, and a man of influence.
