Sonny was born to Walter F. Sr. and Julia (Naye) Langbehn.
He grew up in Omaha and attended North High School.
He was united in marriage to Donna M. Lundin on May 2, 1964 at Wakefield, NE.
Sonny was a skilled mechanic who enjoyed working on his 1957 Triumph Motorcycle. He won many prizes and trophies showing his bike across the country.
Sonny worked for many years with Carlisle Builders, where he constructed commercial buildings. He enjoyed boating with his friends on the Missouri River and had a life full of joy with his wife of 53 years.
