SERVICES HELD FOR FRED HEISE

Services were held Saturday, January 7, at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church for Fred J. Heise, who died on January 4, 1984, at Blair Memorial Community Hospital after a lingering illness.

The Rev. Douglas Darnold officiated at the 11 a.m. service. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Fred was born August 10, 1904 to Charles and Anna Knag Heise, near Fort Calhoun, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed from the St. John’s Lutheran Church at Bennington, Nebraska. He grew up in Greene School Community and attended the Greene School through the eighth grade. Due to his father’s ill health, he took over the responsibilities of the farm at an early age.

On March 22, 1930, Fred was united in marriage to Gertrude Sierk at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington.

In December, 1967, they retired from the farm on which he had lived for 63 years to a new home in Blair, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Wilhelmina Johansen.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude, daughter Claire Ann Sprick of Raytown, Missouri and a son, Marvin Heise of Bennington. Four grandchildren, Tom and Jim Sprick and Bill and Brenda Heise and sisters, Emma Heise and Mrs. Christena Iverson of Omaha and Mrs. Margaret Logemann of Bennington also survive.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Tom Sprick, Jim Sprick, and Bill Heise and nephews, Robert Johansen, Dale Logemann and David Melotz.
