H. H. Couchman, one of the largest land owners in the county, was buried at the Fort Calhoun cemetery Sunday, Nov. 16. Mr. Couchman was born in Indiana in 1845 and came to Washington county in 1869. In 1873 he was married to Miss Montgomery, of Calhoun, who died in 1909. Two children were born to them both of whom are alive and were present during the illness and at the death of their father. They are Mrs. Charles Arnold of Kansas City, and Mrs. Anna Roberts, of Calhoun. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Ralph Houseman late of Omaha and an old friend of the Couchman family. There were present a large number of friends from the county and distant points.
