Erma Lendt Braley, 91, Omaha formerly of Fort Calhoun, died Thursday, June 3, 1999, in Omaha.

Services were Monday, June 7, at Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glenn Lund, Jr., Gregory Swanson, Chan Oliver, Rick Nelson, Mark King and Ron Hapke.

Erma Lendt Braley was born June 29, 1907, in Holt County.

At the age of three her mother died, and she was raised by Blake and Angie Benson of O'Neill.

She attended beauty school in Grand island, and in 1939 married Raymond (Red)Braley.

The couple farmed just south of Fort Calhoun from 1941 to 1954. Upon retirement, they built a home in Fort Calhoun.

Until the age of 88, Erma operated a beauty shop.

She was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church and member of the Eastern Star, Naomi Chapter 125 of Fort Calhoun.

She is survived by her sister, Eleanor McKee of Humboldt; two step-sons, Charles and Eldon Braley, both of Peoria, Ariz., step-daughter, Betty Lee of Shenandoah, Iowa; niece, Barbara Fitch of Omaha; and nephew, David Lendt of Columbia, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1969.

Memorials are suggested to the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church or the Washington County Historical Society.

Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home in Fort Calhoun was in charge of arrangements.
