Jose Antonio Navarro
Birth: Feb. 27, 1795
Death: Jan. 13, 1871

Signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence (native Texan). Navarro County named in his honor. He named the city of Corsicanna for his father's birthplace (the Isle of Corsica). Member, Texas Republic House of Representatives, 1838-39; delegate to the Texas state constitutional convention, 1845; member of Texas Republic Senate, 1845; Texas state senator 1846-49.
