Mrs. Annette Goodbred Chambers died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at Arbor Acres. Mrs. Chambers was born in Mayo, Fla., to Hunter and Annie Johnson Goodbred. She was a graduate of Peace College in Raleigh. She was married on June 8, 1938, in Raleigh to William Farris Chambers. She worked for the Army Quartermaster Corps in Washington, D.C., during World War II while her husband served with the U.S. Navy Ordinance Department. She was a homemaker and mother until after Mr. Chambers' death in 1965. She then returned to work at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. Legal Department until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Ardmore United Methodist Church, and she volunteered for a number of years at Forsyth Medical Center. Surviving are her son, William G. Chambers, and his wife, JoAnn. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, Oct. 26, at Forsyth Memorial Park, with the Rev. Douglas Suggs, chaplain at Arbor Acres, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice or to a charity of the donor's choice. Salem Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
