Medical Pioneer. A surgeon and urologist, he taught at Johns Hopkins University from 1895. He devised many surgical instruments, including the "boomerang needle" for sewing deep incisions. With his associates he discovered mercurochrome, an antiseptic.
His parents were William Hugh Young and Frances Michie Kemper.
