Maxine Torrens, 96, of Pinckneyville, passed away on Friday, Nov. 10, 2006 at 5:30 p.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit.
Maxine was born on March 26, 1910 in Pinckneyville, a daughter to Pringle and Ella (Kimzey) Anderson. She married Thomas Torrens on July 30, 1931 in Carbondale, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 2001. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Pinckneyville and the Lela Ross Harris Circle, a ladies missionary group of the First United Presbyterian Church. She was very active in 4-H and loved gardening, canning, and playing cards with friends.
Survivors include one daughter, Frances V. Carson of Pinckneyville; three grandchildren, Sandy Kiehna of Pinckneyville, Carol Torrens of Normal, and David Torrens of Monticello; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Norman Torrens; and one granddaughter, Pat Flinders.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 13, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in the First United Presbyterian Church with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at Pyatt-Harrawood Funeral Home in Pinckneyville on Sunday from 6:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m., on Monday from 8:00 a.m. till 9:00 a.m. and then at the church from 9:30 until the time of services.
Memorial donations may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church, Pinckneyville Community Hospital Skilled Care Unit, or to the Donor's Choice.
