Leona Bertha McMurtrey, age, 79 of Chester, died at her home Monday, February 26, 2007. Leona was born January 27, 1928 in Milo, Idaho the daughter of Charles Harrison Allen and Bertha Marie Lewis Allen. Leona grew up and attended schools at Clark, Idaho and attended Rigby High School. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had been a member of the Rigby Chapter of Eagles Lodge, and had been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jefferson County Sheriffs Posse. She enjoyed camping, fishing, cooking and getting together with family. She is survived by her husband James David McMurtrey of Chester, and five daughters; Audrey Henry of Archer; Jill Wooten of St Anthony; Dana (Steve) Neville of Ririe; Stephanie (Keith) Graham of Chester; Carolyn (Jay) Parke of Lewisville; three sons; Turk (Trudi) McMurtrey of St. Anthony; Joe (Ann Marie) McMurtrey of Idaho Falls; Sid (Catherine) McMurtrey of Ririe; two sisters; Wanda Caldwell of Island Park and Gail Herbst of Medford, Oregon; one brother; Jerry (Donna) Allen of Missoula, Montana; 27 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son Phillip Alan McMurtrey. Funeral services will be Friday, March 2, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. The family will receive friends Thursday evening 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and Friday for one hour prior to services at the funeralhome, Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
