My Maternal Great-Great Grandfather:

David Crockett Swearengin was born to William Cheek Swearingen and Mary Polly Brown.

He married Nancy E. Collins on July 11, 1862 in Jackson County, AL, solemized by Wm. Furgeson. Nancy is buried in the Crawford Cemetery on Hurricane Creek near Estillfork, Jackson, Alabama.

David and Nancy were parents to: Albert David Swearengin and Nancy Angeline Swearengin.

David Crockett Swearengin fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War. He was a member of the 18th Alabama Battalion, Company B.

He was a POW in Nashville, TN when he was released April 1, 1965.

He was one of the 167 men who served in the Alabama Home Guard in Jackson County,Alabama.
