He was born March 3, 1938, in Rankin, the son of Harvey E. and Alberta Frank Gumbel. He married Mary Ann Semick Aug. 3, 1956 in Peoria.
He was a retired truck driver working for McDaniel Transit in Flora, a trustee on the Sailor Springs Village Board, and a member of the Historic Sailor Springs Foundation.
Survivors include his wife; a son, David; a daughter, Rebecca Ikemire; two brothers, Harvey and Eugene Gumbel; a sister, Phyllis Perkins; and four grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Funeral services were held at Neal Funeral Home in Louisville with burial in Smith Cemetery near Sailor Springs.
