Joan Louise Pullen, 87, of Oakland, Nebraska died on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Oakland Heights Nursing Home in Oakland, NE. Funeral services for Joan will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Rosalie, NE; Pastor Steven Breazier will be officiating. The visitation will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home in Bancroft, NE. Burial will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Elk City Cemetery near Elk City, NE. Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Rosalie. Munderloh – Smith Funeral Home of Bancroft, NE is in charge of the arrangements.



Joan was born on October 10, 1929 near Arlington, NE, the daughter of Walter and Amelia (Jorgensen) Renard. After graduating from Hooper High School, Joan attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln majoring in art, until returning home to help on the family farm. On November 30, 1950, she was united in marriage to Larry Lee Pullen at the United Methodist Church in Hooper, NE. To this union five children were born: Larry, Margaret, Kathy, Ruth and Amy. Joan was a member of the Parks Club, card club, and the Rosalie United Methodist Church, where she served as a Lay person for ten years. She loved to read, play solitaire, garden and care for her flowers. Joan and Larry served as king and queen of the Old Settlers Parade and were active as a member of the Old Settlers. She enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her family.



Joan is survived by a son, Larry Michael Pullen (Sammi Osterlund) of Fremont, NE; daughters, Margaret (Keith) Burge of Waterloo, NE, Kathy (Marlin) Greenfield of Uehling, NE, Ruth (Eric) Tippery of Fremont, NE, Amy (Corey) Acklin of Omaha, NE; 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Larry on May 30, 2017, and an infant brother, Walter F. Renard
