Arthur was born in Peoria, Illinois, February 17, 1861, died at Hutchinson, January 20, 1930. He was a graduate of the University of Kansas, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Arthur L. Goudy, who was a Congregational minister, is the author of pageants published by the Pilgrim Press, and of sermons in the Homiletic Review. Of Scotch-Irish ancestry, his name in Scotch means gold. "The man's the goud for a' that" was said of the Goudy men meaning "as good as gold"; hence the family name.
