After Nelson Staples first wife died, he remarried in 1871 to Sarah Jane Skinner and they had four children together. She died January 1885. Nelson then married Sarah's younger sister, Virginia Catharine Skinner, on April 5, 1885, and they had six children including twins, one of which died in childhood.
