Actor, comedian, voice-over artist. A native of Alabama and the son of a circuit-riding preacher, in the 1950's he replaced Smiley Burnette as Gene Autry's sidekick in the movies and on his television show. In 1965, he became a television series regular on the show "Green Acres" playing the role of Eustace Haney. In 1982, Mr. Buttram founded the Golden Boots Awards that honor professionals in the Western film industry. Since it's inception, many actors, directors, stuntpeople and others who have made significant contributions to the industry have been honored with this award. Having a very distinct voice, Mr. Buttram was also a very talented voice-over actor. Lending his vocal talents to many Walt Disney animated films over the years, they include "The Aristocats," "Robin Hood," "The Rescuers," "The Fox and The Hound," "Who Framed Roger Rabbitt" and, his last film project before his death, "A Goofy Movie."
