Our Wedding Night
September 2, 1925

It was a beautiful evening in September
On the second day of the month
My love and I went strolling
In the moonlight from above.

The moon shown down on both of us
As we walkedhand in hand
God seemed to wisper his sweet love
As the angles played the band

We walked up to the minister
In a little house by the road
Was there we took our wedding vows
Never no more to roam.

After the ceremony was over
We walked back down the hill
To our little house in the country
And listend to the Wipperwills.

And so we sat there peacefully
The crowd became to come
And all at once we heard a blast
And we thought it was a gun.

Yes, the shells began to whistle
All around the house
And we just sat there listening
As quiet as a little mouse.

Yes, we sat there very quietly
With lamps turned down real low
Just hoping in a very short while
The crowd would finally go.

We had no honeymoon
As young folks today
We just settled down to living
And went along lifes way.

Next morning over the hill tops
The sun popped through the trees
And as the leaves began to blow
We felt the morning breeze.

Times were hard these days
And somtimes made us wonder
But "GOD" was good to both of us
And gave us one another
