Adriene Rose (Eksten) Niesen

Adriene Rose Niesen, age 79, resident of Milaca, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Augustana Care Chapel View in Hopkins.
Adriene was an R.N. who received her B.S. Nursing from the University of Minnesota. While she held many nursing jobs during her career, public health was her favorite. She was born at her uncle Ike and aunt Nellie's home in Baxter, MN and grew up in Scandia Valley. She attended elementary and middle school in Scandia Valley and graduated from Brainerd High School.
She and Richard were married for 61 years and raised five children together. For many of those years, they lived in Minneapolis until they moved to Milaca, MN. She enjoyed family vacations, pets, photography, music, reading, crossword puzzles, and playing cards.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; children, Leah (Marty) Stamp, Dan (Cindy) Niesen, Abby Swanson, Anna Niesen, Troy Niesen; grandchildren, Tom Stamp, Rose Stamp, James Stamp, Chinessa Stinehart, Levi Stinehart, Caleb Stinehart and , Mackenzie White; Siblings, Pauline Peterson and Karen Vaccaro; and her favorite younger uncle, Marvin Ausland.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Allenor Eksten and siblings, Janice Schroeder and Al Eksten.
She will be missed by many relatives and friends until we see her again.
Services will be held 4:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd. Visitation will begin the hour prior to services.
