Henry Wriothesley
Birth: Oct. 6, 1573
Death: Nov. 10, 1624

Third Earl of Southampton. Famous as the only patron of William Shakespeare, who dedicated his long poems "Venus and Adonis" and "The Rape of Lucrece" to him. He was a brilliant student at St John's College, Cambridge, becoming a lover of literature. Under King James I he actively pioneered American colonies in Virginia and New England. (bio by: julia&keld)
