Dora Cathern (Dillard) Randall of Cowlington, 99 years old, passed away Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at Spiro Nursing Home.
She is survived by one son, Doyle Randall and wife Lee of Tulsa; two half sisters, Emma McCauley of Oklahoma City and Fayo Floyd of Wichita Falls, Texas.
Nieces and nephews: Howard Dillard of Tulsa, Garry Dillard of Tulsa, Don Dillard of Keifer, Ted Dillard of Broken Arrow, Duel Dillard of Fort Smith, Sterling Dillard of Pensacola, Fla., Ab Dillard of Keota, Larry Anderson of Mount Ida, Jack Bennie of Hot Springs, Bertha Ann Yost of Stigler, Barbara Nelson of Cowlington, Phyllis Williams of Dallas, Kathy Taylor of Sallisaw, Doris Meyers of Little Rock, Pat Stephens of Springfield, Ore., Barbara Plummer of Hot Springs, Ann Hyman of Camden, Wilma Sandlin of Norman, Sharon Wyatt of Idaho, Virginia Ann Green of South Carolina and Carolyn Hammontree of Spiro; a host of great-nieces and nephews.
Dora was born Aug. 11, 1907, at Sims to Rena Ann (Carter) Dillard and LaFayette Dillard. She was 14 years old when they moved from Sims to Cowlington. They moved in two wagons. Some of the children rode horses. It took two days. There were 10 children. Their mother became ill and died soon after they arrived at Cowlington. Her dad was a farmer and the children all helped. She married her husband, Kyle Randall, when she was 16 years old. She worked hard most of her life. They went to California several times to work in the fields and packing sheds. Wherever she lived she always had lots of flowers in her yard and a vegetable garden. She lived in Cowlington until 1995, when she moved to Keota. She attended the Lone Elm Freewill Baptist Church until she had to go to the nursing home. Her husband died in 1969 and she lived alone until 2005. She was always close to all her family and loved them all very much. She always loved to go back to the Sims area and visit relatives. She has lots of friends in Cowlington and Keota that she loved very much.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle Randall; a baby girl; her parents; brothers, Thomas Dillard (a baby), Odes Dillard, Joe Dillard and Abner Dillard; her sisters, Martha Anderson, Dicy Warneke, Ermith Scott, Ermon Bennie, Cleo Arwood and Olean Witt; two half brothers, Jim Dillard and Herman Dillard; also three nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at Lone Elm Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Bender and Bro. Earl Williamson officiating. Burial followed at Short Mountain under the direction of Mallory-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory.
Pallbearers were her nephews: Howard Dillard, Duel Dillard, Don Dillard, Ted Dillard, Garry Dillard and Larry Anderson.
Honorary pallbearers were: Neil Yost, Bobby Hammontree, J.D. Gist, Earl Williamson and Alan Robinson.
