He was best known for his work in Disney movies since the 1950s and won an Academy Award for "Mary Poppins" (1964). He also received Oscar nominations for "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" (1971), "The Island at the Top of the World" (1974), and "The Black Hole" (1979). Ellenshaw was born in London and began his career in 1935 as assistant matte artist for the film "The Ghost Goes West". His other credits include "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" (1954), "Old Yeller" (1957), "The Absent-Minded Professor" (1961), "Bluebeard's Ghost" (1968), and "Superman IV: The Quest for Peace" (1987).
